About

Engineering leadership grounded in craft

For nearly two decades, I've sat at the intersection of deep technical ownership and people leadership — running distributed teams across time zones, shaping architecture decisions that last years, and translating complex healthcare standards into shipping software.

My strongest gear is the Senior PM / Lead role: accountable for scope, delivery, team health, and stakeholder confidence all at once. I've operated in this mode at NextGen Healthcare for 13+ years across the most compliance-heavy, interoperability-critical systems in U.S. healthcare.

I don't manage from a distance. I review PRs, call out architectural drift early, run post-mortems with rigour, and keep engineers motivated through complex deliveries. I'm an A-CSM certified Scrum Master who has run squads of 10+ through full Agile cycles from backlog grooming to retrospective.

Where I've done the work

Oct 2012 — Feb 2026 · 13 years Most Recent
Sr. Staff Engineer / Engineering Lead
NextGen Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd. · Bangalore
Led a geographically distributed team of 10+ members across the USA and India — managing delivery cadence, onshore-offshore synchronisation, and end-to-end programme accountability as both Engineering Lead and Scrum Master.
Improved CCDA generation performance by 80% through targeted architectural redesign and database query optimisation — one of the highest-impact technical contributions across the entire product line.
Deep expertise across U.S. healthcare interoperability standards — HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, CCDA, ECR, XDS/XDR/XDM, and SMART on FHIR; Mirth Connect Certified Professional; U.S. Connectathon participant.
Eliminated vendor licensing costs by leading the full migration from paid Symphonia to open-source NHapi, maintaining complete HL7 parsing integrity throughout — reducing operational overhead significantly.
Drove multiple new feature proposals and architectural improvement initiatives — translating client feedback, production learnings, and domain knowledge into concrete product enhancements adopted across releases.
Primary point of contact for client calls and critical production incidents — consistently resolving high-severity issues under pressure with minimal business disruption and clear stakeholder communication.
Established engineering standards: CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), code review guidelines, production support protocols, and quality gates — lifting the overall bar for delivery consistency.
Recognised across multiple award programmes: Star Award, Pat on Back Award, and multiple Spot Awards — reflecting sustained contributions to quality, delivery excellence, and team culture over 13 years.
Hackathon idea personally appreciated by the CEO and CTO — demonstrating ability to innovate beyond day-to-day delivery and align engineering thinking directly with business strategy.
Built internal productivity tooling (G2J Gherkin-to-Jira converter, XML utilities) to automate QA and development workflows, reducing manual effort and improving sprint throughput.
